- Glycosyltransferases (GTrs) are enzymes which catalyze the transfer of sugars from activated donors to varied acceptor molecules.
- SEARCHGTr is a program for analyzing GTrs involved in natural product biosynthesis.
The software provides a simple interface which allows the user to compare the query sequence with the sequences of characterized GTrs and retrieve the respective alignments.
Comparison with GTrs of known specificity provides clues about donor/acceptor specificity.
It also helps in easy identification of N- & C- terminal domains and linkers.
In addition, it identifies putative pocket residues for donor/acceptor binding based on the alignment of query with the available crystal structures of antibiotic GTrs.
SEARCHGTr is based on a comprehensive analysis of sequence/structural features of several GTrs of known donor/acceptor specificity, compiled in GTrDB.
-
SEARCHGTr would provide new dimension to our previously developed bioinformatics tool NRPS-PKS.Together, these tools facilitate comprehensive computational analysis of proteins involved in the biosynthesis of aglycone core and its downstream glycosylations.
